A city on the verge of greatness.
A new type of city based not on the man but on the automobile.
The car - the symbol of freedom and vitality.
Where every man can own his own home,
and have room to breathe and not be overlooked by his neighbors.
A city where a man's home is his castle.
A quarter acre of the dream made possible by victroy. The city of opportunists.
The city of dreams where hollywood will shape the thoughts and desires of the entire planet.
A city of pioneers. The city of dreamers.
A city of undercurrents, where not everything is as it seems.
A twentieth century that will become a model for the world.A city that has no boundaries.
That will stretch as far as the eye can see.
____ <LA Noire>
说的太形象了,忍不住贴出来。当然,这些都无关乎个人的内在修为,只是就表像而论。再看看莎士比亚
十四行诗中的第一首,会发现里面表达的思想很巧合,但后者更加深远:
From fairest creatures we desire increase,
That thereby beauty's rose might never die,
But as the riper should by time decease,
His tender heir might bear his memory:
But thou contracted to thine own bright eyes,
Feed'st thy light's flame with self-substantial fuel,
Making a famine where abundance lies,
Thy self thy foe, to thy sweet self too cruel:
Thou that art now the world's fresh ornament,
And only herald to the gaudy spring,
Within thine own bud buriest thy content,
And, tender churl, mak'st waste in niggarding:
Pity the world, or else this glutton be,
To eat the world's due, by the grave and thee.
